High Blood Pressure
Stress and diabetes are not friends. It is really important for me to be aware of what (or in some cases, who haha) trigger high stress levels for me... And then to do what I can to reduce it! One way is to take regular breaks and change up my scenery and surroundings. My last holiday was in a city overseas and although the trip had many advantages, one major downfall is that I felt I came home and went back to work feeling just as stressed as when I left.

My last holiday was in a city overseas and although the trip had many advantages, one major downfall is that I felt I came home and went back to work feeling just as stressed as when I left.
The hustle and bustle of city life is something I defintely couldn't live without, but with only a few days off work I felt I needed a change from my everyday work life. So with the public holidays around the corner and with that a week or so off work I was determined to go somewhere relatively cheap, accessible (in NZ) but most importantly somewhere I could feel relaxed and stress-free.I found what I was looking for! I got online and found a stunner of a wee bach overlooking a white-sand beach in the North of New Zealand. The closest town was a 30 - 40 minute drive away so stopping at the local supermarket on the way was a must... And the perfect opportunity to set my eating standard for the holiday. I slept, I swam, I sunbathed. My daily walks were made easier having little Wolfie with me and the beautiful beach on the doorstep. The bach had a kayak and fishing rod to use and a bookshelf of DVD's, books and boardgames for the evenings.
