Diabetes + Other Conditions & Exercise
Diabetes and exercising can sometimes be quite a complex relationship. Many people who have diabetes may also suffer from other health conditions too. For me personally, I have to also consider my asthma, allergies and high blood pressure, which I have had basically all my life. I understand that this can make it more difficult to exercise but often not impossible.

I am a big fan of walking as exercise. It works for me. Because of my asthma, I have to be extra careful that I am not pushing myself past my health limits.
If there is a will, there's almost always a way:
For me it is about making a start and not letting my conditions be an excuse to not do anything! Know your limits and work within them and you may even be surprised at what you can achieve. When I use to weigh an extra 20 kg I definitely found it more difficult to motivate myself to be active. But just make a start. With every kg you loose the easier it becomes (physically and emotionally) ...I can speak from personal experience!
Preparation is key for safety:
I make sure I am prepared when I am exercising! For diabetes, that involves making sure I have enough food (fuel) in my body. I always take a backup sugary snack too, just in case and especially when I am walking in more remote areas out in the country.
I leave the sugary snack in the car if it is close or just simply put it in my pocket. Make sure your sugary snack is "fast-acting", meaning if you have a low for some reason it will quickly bring your levels up.
Remember to take anything you need for any other conditions you may have. I take my asthma inhaler and I make sure to have my phone on me too!
Water is super important, even if you have no extra conditions to worry about! It's really important for me to keep hydrated, especially on warmer days.
As always, when it comes to changing your lifestyle and exercising habits make sure to consult your doctor, ESPECIALLY when you have extra health conditions or concerns you have to take into account too.
